Professor Gabriel Olukayode Ajayi is an accomplished Professor of Biochemistry with over twenty-five years of progressive experience in university teaching, research, postgraduate supervision, academic administration, and institutional leadership. He currently serves as the Deputy Vice Chancellor at Mountain Top University, Nigeria.
His research focuses on phytomedicine, biochemical and molecular toxicology, oxidative stress, drug discovery, medicinal plants, and green nanobiotechnology. He has established a strong research profile in the investigation of medicinal plants as therapeutic agents against metabolic diseases, cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disorders, and environmental toxicities using integrated in vitro, in vivo, molecular, and in silico approaches.
Professor Ajayi has successfully attracted competitive research grants, supervised numerous postgraduate students, published extensively in reputable national and international journals, and actively collaborates with researchers within and outside Nigeria. He has served as External Examiner, Professorial Assessor, Journal Reviewer, Conference Organizer, and Academic Mentor to several universities.
As an academic administrator, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership as Acting Head of Department, Director of Open and Distance Learning, Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies, and currently Deputy Vice Chancellor. His leadership has contributed significantly to curriculum development, quality assurance, postgraduate education, accreditation exercises, strategic planning, research development, and institutional governance.
His academic philosophy emphasizes excellence in teaching, impactful research, ethical leadership, innovation, mentorship, and service to society.
