ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY

I am Urewuji Chidinma Umec, B.A., RN, RM, an experienced nursing and midwifery professional with over 15 years of clinical, humanitarian, and healthcare service experience. I currently serve as a Nursing Officer II at Mountain Top University Medical Centre, Ogun State, Nigeria, where I contribute to safe, compassionate, evidence-based, and patient-centred healthcare services.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and professional qualifications as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Registered Midwife (RM). I am currently undertaking a Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.NSc.) programme. My continuing professional development includes training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Basic Life Support (BLS), IPPF-related programmes, and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) care and counselling.

Throughout my professional career, I have gained extensive experience across clinical, humanitarian, emergency, maternal and community healthcare settings. My professional experience includes service at the International Trauma and Critical Care Center, Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders), Madonna University Teaching Hospital, and Obio Cottage Specialist Hospital. These experiences have strengthened my competencies in emergency and critical care, maternal and child health, clinical nursing, SGBV counselling, family planning, health education, patient advocacy, and multidisciplinary healthcare practice.

I have also contributed to community and rehabilitative care through volunteer service at St. Vincent de Paul Rosalie Home and Rehabilitation Center, supporting compassionate and holistic care for individuals requiring rehabilitation and supportive services.

In addition to my clinical and humanitarian responsibilities, I am the Founder, Owner and Manager of Trinity Care Home, a registered care organization. This role has further developed my skills in healthcare leadership, care management, service coordination, and organizational development.

At Mountain Top University Medical Centre, I remain committed to promoting quality healthcare, patient safety, professional nursing practice, health education, teamwork, ethical conduct, and compassionate patient-centred care. I am also committed to continuous professional development, with a long-term goal of specializing in Critical Care Nursing or Oncology Nursing and contributing meaningfully to the advancement of nursing and healthcare services.
