About
My name is Alebiosu Oluwafunmike Oluwadamilola. I am a Mass Communication professional, researcher and university staff member with a growing interest in communication, digital media, research, data analytics and emerging technologies.
My academic journey is rooted in Mass Communication, through which I developed a strong interest in media, journalism, broadcasting, communication research and the role of the media in society. I hold a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mass Communication and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Mass Communication. I also hold a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) from the National Teachers’ Institute, with English as my major, which further strengthened my knowledge of language, communication and education.
Beyond my academic qualifications, I have deliberately pursued professional training to broaden my skills and remain relevant in an increasingly digital and data-driven environment. I hold a Certificate in Digital Journalism from Reuters, which has enhanced my understanding of contemporary journalism and digital media practice. I also hold a Certificate in Data Analytics with Power BI from New Horizons, which has strengthened my ability to work with data, analyse information and present insights through data visualisation. In addition, I hold a Certificate of Proficiency in Cybersecurity from the Virtual Institute for Capacity Building in Higher Education, which has broadened my awareness of digital security, cybersecurity principles and responsible engagement with technology.
Professionally, I work at Mountain Top University, Ogun State, where I have gained over three years of experience within the university environment. My work has exposed me to communication, broadcasting, research, academic support and the practical application of technology in an educational setting. This experience has also strengthened my appreciation of the importance of research, accurate information and effective communication in institutional and social development.
My research interests include media and digital communication, social media and media effects, family and interpersonal communication, audience studies, communication for social development, broadcasting, digital journalism, research and evaluation, and the influence of digital technologies on individuals and communities. I am particularly interested in understanding how emerging communication technologies influence human behaviour, relationships, audiences and society.
I am also interested in the growing intersection between communication and data analytics. I believe that effective communication research should be supported by reliable data and sound analytical methods. My training in Power BI and data analytics has therefore complemented my background in Mass Communication and strengthened my interest in evidence-based research, audience analysis, monitoring and evaluation, and data-driven decision-making.
My professional development in cybersecurity has also increased my awareness of the opportunities and challenges associated with digital communication. As communication increasingly takes place through digital platforms, I believe that understanding issues of digital security, privacy, responsible technology use and information protection is becoming increasingly important for communication professionals and researchers.
Overall, I am a lifelong learner who is committed to developing at the intersection of communication, research, digital journalism, media, data analytics and technology. I am passionate about using research, communication and data to understand social issues, generate meaningful insights and contribute to informed decision-making and positive social development, particularly within the Nigerian context.
I aspire to continue developing professionally and academically while contributing meaningfully to research, media practice, communication development and evidence-based solutions to contemporary social challenges.
