About

Dr. Kehinde H. Shobukonla is a Senior Lecturer and Heads the Department of Fine and Applied Arts at Mountain Top University (MTU), Nigeria, since 2022. He holds a BA (Education) in Fine and Applied Arts, an MFA in Advertising, and a PhD in Visual Arts (Graphic Design) from the University of Benin. He is a Fellow of the Society of Nigerian Artists (FSNA) and a multidisciplinary visual artist, graphic designer, art educator, curator, researcher and creative practitioner.

Dr. Shobukonla’s research interests include graphic design, visual communication design, digital visual arts education, curriculum development, exhibition and curatorial practice, artificial intelligence and creativity, and digital heritage archiving. As the Head of the Department, he has contributed significantly to the development and accreditation of its undergraduate programme by the National Universities Commission. His research innovation includes the Academic Digital Archive for Visual Arts (ADAVA), reflecting his commitment to integrating technology, scholarship and creative practice in contemporary art education.

He has designed and reviewed academic curricula, developed innovative courses around Artificial Intelligence for Visual Arts and Social Media Creatives, and introduced web design into visual arts education. His professional practice encompasses exhibition curation, visual communication, art consultancy, creative entrepreneurship and mentorship of emerging artists. He has curated and participated in exhibitions, conferences, workshops and art education initiatives in Nigeria and internationally. He is also a member and former Board member of the Arts Council of the African Studies Association (ACASA) and has contributed to scholarly and professional conversations on contemporary African art, design education, technology and creative practice.
