Dr. Tuoyo Ede Tuoyo Adetutu Ede

 am a petroleum geologist and sedimentologist and a Lecturer II at Mountain Top University, Prayer City, Nigeria. I teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses and supervise students at both levels.

I hold a Ph.D. in Petroleum Geology and Sedimentology from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (2018), an M.Sc. in Petroleum Geology (2009) and a B.Sc. in Geology (2005), both from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. My doctoral research examined the hydrocarbon and shale-gas potential of Cretaceous formations in south-eastern Nigeria. It built on earlier work on the Eze-Aku Group of the Abakaliki Anticlinorium and the Lokpanta carbonaceous shales.

My research links stratigraphy to the generation and accumulation of petroleum in sedimentary basins. I use sequence stratigraphy, 3D facies modelling, geochemistry and formation evaluation to map and characterise depositional systems. My published work covers petroleum plays of the eastern Niger Delta, reservoir performance and hydrocarbon evaluation in Niger Delta fields using integrated facies, petrophysical and seismic analyses, and the lithofacies and depositional environments of the Eocene Nanka Sands. I have also published on paleocurrent analysis as a tool for reservoir property estimation, geotechnical investigation for civil infrastructure, and groundwater assessment. I have presented at the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society annual conference, the Afro-Asian Petroleum Geochemistry conference and the Cretaceous Basins in Nigeria workshop.

My training and research have been supported by the Petroleum Technology Development Fund, the Nigeria–São Tomé and Príncipe Joint Development Authority, the Oil and Gas Academy and the NAPE-UAP postgraduate grant. I am a member of the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society and the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists, and a student member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
