Abstract & Summary

Edge computing is currently evolving how information and data is being processed, stored and also delivered to millions of devices digitally connected to the cyber-space. The rise of Internet of Things we now have various devices actively communicating and also sharing, delivering information. Edge computing brings computation and data storage closer to the devices where it’s being gathered, rather than relying on a central location that can be thousands of miles away. This is done so that data, especially real-time data, does not suffer latency issues that can affect an application’s performance. This paper presents a review of edge computing technology and how it has evolved the was information is currently being processed.
