Profile

Dr. (Mrs) Ayolabi is a Medical Virologist, an Associate Professor in the Department. She obtained her first degree in Microbiology from Ogun State University in 1995. She had her first Master’s degree in Virology from University of Ibadan in 1999 and a second Masters degree in Medical Microbiology in 2003 from University of Lagos. In 2008, she was on internship program at Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, University of Ghana, after which she obtained a Doctoral degree in Medical Microbiology and Public Health in 2010. Dr. Ayolabi research is centred on viral infectious diseases: viral gastroenterology and Paediatric infections/ food and blood borne viral infections etc. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students in area of Medical Virology and Immunology and has successfully supervised over 125 B.Sc. projects, 14 M.Sc. Dissertations, 1PhD Thesis and currently supervising 4 Ph.D students. She has published over 35 scientific papers to her credit. She is a member of many Professional bodies such as Nigerian Society for Microbiology (NSM), American Society for Virology (ASV), European Society for Pediatric Infectious Diseases (ESPID), Society for Applied Microbiology (SFAM), UK, American Society for Microbiology(ASM) & Organisation for Women in Science for the Developing world (OWSD) amongst others. She is an international scholar and an award winner. She and her colleagues won University of Lagos CRC research grant in 2012 and currently a partner on a project awarded to Mountain Top University, led by the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) on Foodborne Disease Epidemiology, Surveillance and Control in African Low- and Middle- Income Countries (LMIC) (FOCAL), co-funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and UK’s Department for International Development (DFID),
